Tour De France Cycle Challenge

On Sunday 7th July 2013 a team of 12 cyclists from Intermarketing Agency are challenging themselves to take an advertising bike (like a rickshaw but with ad space on the back) 120 miles round the first stage of the arduous Tour de France 2014 route. This is exactly one year before 'Le Tour' visits Yorkshire to complete the same course. The team is fundraising for Yorkshire Cancer Centre and aiming to raise£5,000. Intermarketing Agency 'En Tour' for Yorkshire Cancer Centre starts at first light from their offices in Headingley, through the Yorkshire Dales, and will hopefully finish in Harrogate later that evening.

To kick-start their fundraiser, the lively team cycled their ad bike from their offices in Headingley to the Yorkshire Cancer Centre where they raised over £400 from their cake sales in the Atrium.

Alison Reid, Marketing Manager, Intermarketing Agency said: "The initial idea came from one of our staff who has a personal connection with YCC and wanted to help them raise funds, and it developed from there. The response from everyone in the business to get involved, however they can, has been so positive, especially from the cyclists who have a very tough challenge ahead but I'm sure they will succeed. We'd like as many people as possible to be at the main event on 7th July at the changeover points along the route to cheer our cyclists on for such a worthy cause."

No one's rocking this boat!

An enthusiastic team of rowers from Aire Valley Homes Leeds, called the 'Aire Valley Vikings' will take to the waters of the Leeds/Liverpool canal in September to raise funds for YCC appeal.

The Vikings have already taken the plunge and raised over £10k in sponsorship! They now hope to row their way to their new £20k target by the autumn!

Mike Holdsworth, one of the Vikings, told us "the team are really up for this; they're excited and training hard for the challenge ahead. We've been overwhelmed with the donations we've already received, along with the offers of support, help and advice."

Phil Arnett, the Team Captain added "Lower Wharfe Canoe Club and Robin Hood Water Sports have really helped us to get going. We'd started off by renting canoes during our first training sessions, but each member has committed to buying their own equipment so that all the sponsor money we collect can go direct to Yorkshire Cancer Centre."
